Flexibility is consistently recognized by parents and students as the top benefit of digital learning. At Mountain Heights Academy, students are given the freedom to choose the time, place and pace of their schoolwork. Like a traditional school, students sign up for classes that have teachers, tests, assignments and due dates. But, at Mountain Heights, they can log in and access the learning environment — including lessons, assignments and teachers — at their convenience.
Time
One of the lasting impacts of a Mountain Heights education is that students learn how to manage their time. As long as they meet the weekly Friday at 6 p.m. deadline, our students can “do” school at any time. This allows all students — from the early bird to night owl — to create a schedule that works for them.
"My son Boden discovered his love for ranching when he was five years old. Unfortunately, his traditional school schedule didn't align with his growing passion. Before we found Mountain Heights Academy, his roping and riding time was significantly affecting his attendance and grades in middle school. Now, with this flexible school model, he can easily balance cowboying and classes throughout the week—and he's thriving!"

Some students choose to get up and start school every morning at the same time so their afternoons are open for work, lessons or other activities. Others do their schoolwork in the afternoons or evenings. And some complete their work early in the week, creating more time for weekend activities like time with family, travel, relaxation, hobbies, competitions and performances.
Place
Digital learning at Mountain Heights can be done, on the school-issued laptop, anywhere with a WIFI connection. We have many students who are professional athletes, musicians and performers. These students are able to learn and be productive while on planes, trains and automobiles on their way to and from competitions, events and other commitments all over the state and country. Other students may simply prefer the quiet, distraction-free atmosphere of their bedroom.
Whether your student prefers to learn from a cozy corner on the couch or from a seat on a bus, they can create a learning environment based on their preferences and needs.
Pace
Our weekly modules empower students to complete assignments at their own pace. Students can work ahead in a course if they understand the material. Or, they may need to complete their coursework slower — reaching out to their teachers — when they are more challenged. Because course content is available on demand, students can replay lessons, take notes and break down concepts at their own pace.
