Career & College Preparation

Mountain Heights Academy has launched alumni toward Ivy League schools, meaningful apprenticeships, athletic scholarships and many other successful educational, career and other post-graduation experiences.

All instruction is aligned to rigorous college and career-ready standards, that provide students with the intellectual, social and emotional skills they need to be successful in further education and in their careers. These career and college-preparatory resources include:

Career preparation
Students in ninth grade and above can enroll in courses at any technology colleges in the state of Utah.

Concurrent enrollment
After completing eighth grade, students can enroll in college courses through Utah Tech University. Learn more about concurrent enrollment options here.

ACT bootcamp
All Mountain Heights Academy juniors can attend free ACT “bootcamp” sessions to help prepare them for the test.

College tours
Students of all grade levels can attend fall university tours with Mountain Heights Academy counselors and parents. Tours will typically be held at Salt Lake Community College (Taylorsville-Redwood campus), Southern Utah University, The University of Utah, Utah State University, Utah Tech University, Utah Valley University, Weber State University and Westminster University.

Honors classes
Students athletes of all grade levels can participate in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)-approved courses. Learn more about course options here.

Washington D.C. Seminar
Each year, Mountain Heights provides tuition for more than 20 students in grades 10-12 to travel to Washington, D.C. There, they immerse themselves in history, meet with elected officials and learn how policy is crafted. The experience teaches valuable lessons about civic engagement and gives students the opportunity to network with students from across the country.

American Exchange Project
A free, nation-wide program that sends high school seniors on a week-long trip to an American community different than their ow The program aims to bridge divides in our country by encouraging students to gain a new perspective and build relationships.

Internships
Mountain Heights Academy junior and senior students can participate in internships — and earn school credit for their work. This includes completing assignments that teach job skills, like building a resume, tracking their work hours and creating a portfolio.

Counselor assistance
Counselors work with students to create a college and career readiness plan. This plan helps them prepare for graduation and for whatever comes next, like trade school, college or a career. Counselors also help students investigate school or program options and scholarships.
